THE PROJECT FROM HELL

 

OUTSIDE OF CLASS:

In our recreation of the Inferno, you will select one area of hell to focus on and to do your presentation; be sure you read all the cantos concerning your area so that you know:

  1. How Dante got there and how he passes through
  2. The description, physical layout of the area
  3. The Sinners:  who they are, what they did and how and why they are being punished and how the punishment fits

 

The first two are fairly easily understood from reading the text.  But you may have to read it over several times to get the complete picture and to be sure you do see the place and Dante in it.

 

The third is trickier; you’ll need to do some online research and study to determine who the sinners are.  Be sure you know who they are…whether fictional or real…what they did and why Dante has them here.  You may have to go to several online sites to find out more information about them.

 

While you are reading about the area and the sinners there, consider what you can create or make or have as a symbol for the level.  This will be the visual aid for Hell.

 

IN CLASS:

You will need to:

  1. Tell the class what your area is, how Dante got there and how he passes through
  2. Describe the physical layout of the area
  3. Inform the class who the sinners are, what they did, how they are being punished and why, and how the punishment fits the sin.
  4. Explain how you visual aid works to represent your area.

 

You will also need to turn in a one-two page paper of your presentation.

 

You will be graded on:

·         10 points for how Dante gets in and out of the area

·         20 points for the description

·         40 points for the identification of the sinners and their punishment

·         20 points for the visual aid

·         10 points for the organization and effectiveness of the presentation.
