Parents,
Our staff is enjoying having your students back on campus. After observing the after-school dismissal over the past few days, we have made a few adjustments to the manner in which you pick up your secondary students from school. All secondary parents need to park in designated areas and have your student(s) meet you at your vehicle. Please remember, secondary pick-up does not begin until 3:30 p.m.
Designated Areas(refer to map below):
- Row “I” 6th & 7th grade parents
- Row “H” 8th grade parents
- SEC/Locker room 9th -12th grade parents
- When picking up students from multiple grades, please park in the area designated for the youngest student.

LEAP Lab for Excellence in Academics
We are launching a new program this fall. LEAP is a program designed to assist students (primarily middle school) whose academic needs are deeper and broader than what can be addressed in the regular classroom or in the 504 program. Rhonda Brown has graciously agreed to lead this program for us. Students may be referred by a teacher or parent. A detailed explanation of this program and the needed referral forms can be found here on the website.
New Staff Members
Please welcome the following staff members to our Secondary family:
- Mary Burnside - Sixth Grade social studies, Sixth Grade Christian studies
- Dana Duke - Sixth Grade math, Seventh Grade basic math, Seventh Grade Christian Studies (1 Section)
- Tiffani Croley - Seventh and Eighth Grade English
- Haden Gilder – 12th grade government, Christian studies and athletics
Both Mrs. Duke and Mrs. Burnside are moving from 5th to 6th grade this year. Mrs. Croley is returning to education after working in another field for a few years. Coach Gilder is joining us from a Christian school in Louisiana; he has more than a decade of experience in education. All four are wonderful additions to our staff. We are very fortunate God has called them to us. Please make them feel welcome.

Announcing …..LEAP |
|
|
|
One of the improvements that we made to the Shiloh Secondary offerings for the 2010-2011 school year is the creation of a new academic support program, LEAP (Lab for Excellence in Academics Program). LEAP offers academic assistance, to those students who qualify, in order to support them in reaching their full potential and experience success. In some cases a student may not be performing at their potential due to a learning difficulty. These students may be a candidate for our LEAP program.
Shiloh offers various levels of support and creates plans designed around the needs of each individual student. Parent / teacher recommendation, current diagnostic evaluation, observation, and classroom work samples are used to determine a student’s eligibility for this program. Enrollment is limited and involves a yearly fee.
Mrs. Rhonda Brown has graciously agreed to lead this effort for us. She has a wealth of experience in this area and a great heart for this program. Students may be referred by a teacher or parent. A detailed explanation of this program can be found here. |

Letter From Dean Jones |
|

|
Dear Shiloh Parents,
The 2009 -2010 school year was a success in many measurable ways. In the area of academics, Shiloh graduated one of the most prolific, in terms of scholarships offered and average ACT scores, classes in school history. The remaining grade levels did very well on the Stanford 10 battery of tests. Spiritually, there were a great number of documented spiritual commitments made by our students.
Additionally, through our Global Missions program and student leadership organizations, the majority of our students participated in a major mission effort with Shiloh this year.
Of course, I do not have to tell the story of our extracurricular activities. From band to drama, athletics to A.C.E. team, our students enjoyed rich experiences and great success. Even when considering all of the aforementioned blessings, we are even more excited about the prospects of the 2010-2011 school year.
Below you will find a listing of key dates related to the beginning of school this fall. Also, you will receive a secondary update around July 15th and a final back to school briefing around August 1st.
- Parent Orientation Night Thursday, August 12, 2010
- First Day of School for Secondary students Friday August 13, 2010
- Blue\ Gold Game Friday August 13, 2010
- First Day of School for Elementary students Monday August 16, 2010
Please know I consider it a privilege to serve as your Dean and to serve the kingdom through SCS. If I can be of any assistance to you this summer, please do not hesitate to contact my office. I look forward to seeing you in August. Have a great summer.
In Christ,
Greg Jones Dean |
