Exciting Times: The Arts

 April 21, 2008

As we stand in the shadows of the end of the 2007-2008 school year, I am writing to make sure all of our families are aware of the many exciting opportunities that are still in front of us.

This is the time of year when our arts programs take center stage. Our school recently conducted a local art fair. Many of these selections were forwarded on to regional competition.

Last week the beginning band held its spring recital. Now, this week both Tuesday, April 22 and Thursday, April 24 our annual secondary school play, “Crazy Girl”, will be offering performances in the FBCS – Children’s Theatre. These performances will take place at 7:00 each evening. Then just around the corner, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the spring concert, from our award winning band, as well as, this season’s choir concert. Our choir contains several all - region and all – state selections.

In addition, to these performances many of these talented performers will be utilized in various end of the year programs and chapels. I urge you to attend as many of these events as possible. You will be blessed and impressed.

 In Christ,

Greg Jones

Thanks for a Successful Week!

Dear Families,

The past week in the Shiloh Secondary has been a busy one.  On Thursday, the Secondary hosted an internet safety program for our middle school students. Then, on Thursday evening, we hosted a similar session for Shiloh parents. Special thanks, to our counseling department, Dr.Robin Lundstrum and the Fayetteville police department for planning and conducting this evening.

On Friday, the Shiloh Junior class hosted the annual Junior/ Senior banquet. We are all very grateful to the class sponsors and class members for carrying-out such an outstanding event.

Finally, today our entire student body participated in the Answers in Genesis conference. This was an ambitious undertaking that required us to move our in entire school to the Church at Pinnacle Hills. Everyone did a great job!

I am very thankful for all who make our school a great place to be.

In Christ,

Greg Jones

Dear Shiloh Parents,

The 2007-2008 school year has already been a great success. It is very important to me that this story of our student success is told. The below bullet list that chronicles much of the measurable success that the Secondary has experienced thus far this school year.

Of course, I do not have to tell the story of our extracurricular activities. From band to drama and athletics, our students are enjoying rich experiences and great success.

Additionally, we are excited about a new program we have launched, Family Groups. This program entails dividing the students into groups of 10 to 15. Each ‘family’ meets together once a month. The purpose of this activity is to ensure that each student has a connection with one adult in our system and to foster a sense of belonging for all.

Finally, it is my privilege to announce that Tucker Barnard has been named Dean of Students of the 2008-2009 school year. Coach Barnard will continue his responsibilities with the athletic department, but will no longer teach Chemistry. As Dean of Students, Coach Barnard will be responsible for the administration of the attendance office and discipline management.

Please know I consider it a privilege to serve as your Dean and to serve the kingdom through SCS. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

In Christ,

Greg Jones
Dean
