Stewart barefoot2The Lady Saints Coach Mat Stewart will be making history on the basketball court on February 12. Coach Stewart is teaming up with Samaritan's Feet, a non-profit ministry based out of Charlotte, NC, to raise funds to distribute new shoes to children in need in Northwest Arkansas and around the world.

During the girls' varsity games Coach Stewart is going barefoot to help raise awareness for those with bare feet.

A pair of shoes can change a child's life forever.

  • 300 million children around the world woke up this morning with no shoes.
  • Over 1 million of these children will contract foot-borne parasitic diseases this year.
  • Millions more won't be able to attend school or compete in sports because they don't have shoes.

This is why Coach Stewart and others Tuesday night will be giving up their shoes in support of children in NWA and around the world.

Additionally, Samaritan?s Feet wristbands will be sold for $10 throughout the night. Each wristband that is sold will provide one pair of shoes for a child in need. Students from Shiloh's Student Leadership Club will be selling wristbands and collecting donations at the Samaritan?s Feet booth at the ticket table and at the concession stand. All proceeds will go towards putting shoes on children's feet.
