Take Action Now: Parental Choice Scholarship Program

March 14th, 2013

WE NEED YOUR HELP RIGHT NOW!!!

We are writing to make you aware of a bill recently filed by State Representative, Randy Alexander, entitled, HB1897 (Parental Choice Scholarship Program) in the Arkansas General Assembly. This bill will make Christian and other private education affordable for nearly all Arkansas families. It allows parents of students in grades four through eight to direct up to 100 percent of their state and local ?adequate funding amount? (currently $6,267 per pupil) in the form of scholarships to the school of their choice beginning in 2014. Each year thereafter, one grade on each side of this band will be added. HB1897 makes it feasible for more parents to choose the best school for their kids, whether that is public, private, charter, or religious.

This means that you would get this scholarship money, $6,267 per student, from the State of Arkansas applied to the charge for your Shiloh tuition!!!

A recent survey by the Tarrance Group shows that 74% of Arkansas voters believe that school choice should be available to parents.

We believe all Arkansas kids deserve the best possible education. This bill gives Arkansas families the economic freedom to send their kids to the school that best fits their individual needs. Private school tuition is not affordable for many low and middle income Arkansas families. HB1897 removes the economic barrier to private education by allowing parents of students in grades four through eight to direct up to 100 percent of their state and local ?adequate funding amount? (currently $6,267 per pupil) in the form of scholarships to the school of their choice.

The outcome of this legislation is very important to Shiloh and to the futures of the children of Arkansas. We are asking you to confirm that the Terrance Group survey is correct by IMMEDIATELY contacting our legislators and urging them to support this bill, beginning with the House Education Committee where the bill will first be heard.

An efficient way to contact them is through the iPhone App "LobbyUp." Also email addresses and phone numbers are available on the General Assembly Website.

The House Education Committee hearing for HB 1897 is scheduled for April 2.
